Fifteen intrepid pupils and two members of staff ventured off to Montpellier from 18-23 May to visit their penpals from Eridan International Ecole who had visited the UK earlier on in the year.
On arrival at the airport, on the Friday afternoon, the pupils were met by their host families and were whisked off to their individual homes. All the host families were very generous with their time and very kind towards their young guests and everyone seems to have had a great time. There was a French bank holiday on the Monday so the children were spared a day off school. Finally, on the Tuesday, everyone met up and visited the wonderful zoo.
Thank you to Eridan teachers, Neil and Josselin, for giving up your time so generously over the weekend and being so hospitable.
In maths we have mental maths challenges, where we have no help at all and we do it independently. It is really challenging. We have been learning about place value, using sticks and ones. Recently we are learning about weight. On the interactive white board there was a scale which we could see how much things weigh. Maths is so much fun.
We looked at a brilliant picture story called Journey. The story is about a little girl who goes on an exciting journey and finds a bird and makes a friendship. Last week we made our books about the Journey to enter a competition. Today we were writing an introduction for our forest school recount.
In science we have learnt that you can grow a bean in tissue paper. We found out that it needed warmth, light and water.
Our class is a very happy place, because we have two lovely teachers, Mrs Van Duin and Mrs McKay and two lovely helpers Miss Knollman and Mr Driver.
Congratulations to all of you who took part in the Great Hambridge Bake Off. Many thanks to Val Stones who very kindly came and judged the competition.
Well done to our Hambridge boys team who took part in the Under 11's cup recently at Bucklers Mead School in Yeovil. Please enjoy the photos...
Year 5 pupils had an excellent day out at Taunton School yesterday, taking part in Play in a Day. Please take time to enjoy the pictures below...
A privileged few of our pupils had the opportunity to go to Taunton School on Monday this week and take part in their Mixed Sports Challenge. Everyone who attended had a great day out! Well done to Will and Lottie who received certificates for Best Effort and Improvement. A big thank you to Taunton School for inviting us.
... and rock it certainly did! Well done to all of our KS2 pupils for their outstanding performances last week. A brilliant production!
Hi We are Class 4 pupils and we made an advertisement to raise funds for our school. The money we raise will go towards school resources such as PE equipment and play equipment etc. Please enjoy our video and we hope it will persuade you to stay behind after school on Friday 14 July with some change in your pockets!
Given the recent terrible events from the past 2 weeks that have impacted the UK, our Year 6 pupils performed what they learned from their Beatles music lesson in front of the whole school and gave their views of how they would like to see the world when they are 64. Please enjoy.
